Here’s Maya playing with her SD bear on our way home from Wichita last week.  Grandma Rosie went with us.

Wichita, again.

Last week I had to go to Wichita again for work. Grandma Rosie & Maya came with me. In the evenings we took long walks and did some shopping. Here we are by the water near the shopping strip.

Maya experiencing ducks for the first time. She wasn’t real sure what to think of them.

Having fun with Grandma!

Last Wednesday through Friday Sara, Maya and I went to Wichita for work. Here are the girls playing before bed.

Sara keeps Maya entertained at the hotel while Mommy goes to work.

Who loves Sara? Maya does!

We stopped for some ice cream after a hard night of shopping. Maya was not happy that Sara wasn’t sharing.

Thank God the girl fell asleep! Her teeth were bothering her and she was fussing at the beginning of the trip on the way home, we thought we might be in for a painful ride home…but the Tylenol kicked in and baby girl was out the whole way home.

Wichita

I had to go to Wichita again for another business trip. We were gone Wed-Fri last week. Sara came with us to help with Maya and we ended up having a really good time. Maya slept most of the way there and then we got checked into our hotel and then went out for dinner. She slept late both days and took good naps, I only had to come home once over lunch to nurse her since she’s doing so well with her baby food. The second night we found a really good restaurant and Maya sat in a high chair like a big girl and read her menu. Thank God for Sara, Maya was throwing everything on the floor and fussing when she got bored. Sara helped keep her entertained so we could make it through dinner w/o having to leave.

We took plenty of toys so the girls didn’t get bored hanging out in the hotel while I was at work. Here they are on M’s activity mat.

Hotel games….

Mommy’s 1st day back to work!

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

So today was the 1st day I had to leave Maya all day and work outside of my home office. I’ve been working from home since she was 12wks old and it’s been going great. We found an amazing nanny named Katie. More on her later. We still get Maya’s 1st nanny, Sara, once a week too. Anyhoo, neither girl was available today to watch Maya, and I couldn’t miss work because my co-worker flew in from Canada to train me to take over for her…so daddy to the rescue! He planned to WFH (work from home) the 1st half of the day and then drop her off at our friend Emily’s house for the afternoon. Emily only lives 10 min. from the site I was at today so I planned on leaving for lunch & nursing Maya. Apparently that wasn’t good enough. Maya woke up at 11am (she still prefers her Aunt Brie’s schedule of staying up late and sleeping in) so daddy warmed up a bottle, but Maya would only take a tiny bit of it and just fussed until she decided to take a nap. d was keeping me in the loop via text messaging and I was getting a bit frantic worried that my girl was starving & contemplating quitting my job and never leaving her again. (As you can tell by the recent pics, this isn’t a real legitimate concern as my girl might be just fine skipping a meal from time to time). At this point d was going to bring Maya to the office for me to feed her before dropping her off at Emily’s…but in the meantime little miss decided to take a 3.5oz bottle so we could relax for the time being, but that was it! For the whole day! Until I got home. Poor little sweet pea. daddy decided to keep M with him all day so Ms. Emily didn’t have to deal with the hungry baby and the weather was yuck here in KC today so another reason to work from home. Daddy coming in a strong #1 for daddy of the year after a long day with a tired & hungry 4 month old baby girl.

And if that wasn’t enough of an eventful day…we decided to go out to dinner. We went to Johnny Cascone’s & everything went great until our remote wouldn’t open the jeep door & we were stuck at the restaurant. The key wouldn’t open it either because it was damaged when someone tried to steal it awhile back. So daddy, in 20 degree weather, walked to Hy-Vee looking for a battery for the remote…no luck. Then he went to K-mart…no luck. Baby was getting hungry & needed to be changed but there was no baby changing station in the bathroom & no real good place for me to feed her at the restaurant. So we waited. Finally d went to Micro-Center & came back to get his girls with a working remote in hand. Did I mention it was dark & 20 degrees? We all got a lesson in patience today, even baby girl.

Does she look hungry to you? Mommy guilt is no joke…
