The life of new parents

I had to go to New Orleans for work over our 9 year anniversary so Dustin came and spent a couple days with me there.

I didn’t quite realize we were going to be during Mardi Gras.  Bourbon street was a little nuts. There were lots of parades and people out everywhere, so excited for the Super Bowl.

On Friday afternoon we took the street car around New Orleans.

Of course we had beignets and cafe Au Lait’s at Cafe du Monde.

Maya continues to come up with creative ways to avoid taking a nap. Well, going to bed in general.

Could be that she needs a drink of water. Holding toy that just happens to be missing. Needs a nother snack. Brush her teeth for the 5th time that night. Needs to go potty. Well, you name it.

Her latest trick? Reading and reading. Specifically the bible. Reading the bible is a good thing, but we can’t read the whole bible before every nap or before going to bed at night.

Snuggles with Grandma J.  Maya is super happy to have her new cousin home and wants to visit her every day.  She calls her oooweee.  I guess it sounds like Olivia to her little ears.

Lissa, Nichole, Jo Ellen & I spent a weekend in West Palm Beach, FL.  We had a great time even though we missed our babies a lot.

It had been ages since my girlfriends and I had a night out together w/o the babies.  We went to the Power & Light district last night to celebrate Jo Ellen’s birthday.  We had dinner at Gordon Bierch and then went to Howl at the Moon, Big Sky (no, none of us rode the bull) and Flying Saucer.  We had a lovely time and it was great catching up on how everyone is doing.

Here we are outside Lissa’s building.  We got a tour of her office, the place is gorgeous.   Her view of the city is amazing.

Last week we went over to my friend Mayada’s house (her and daughter below). I got to hang out with some friends from my old position at PRA. We had a good time and the girls played dress up. Maya was too cranky to join in. She cut her 1st tooth that day!
