Maya’s wearing the dress Uncle Corey got for her in Mexico or Columbia, I can’t remember.

M reading her Who Loves Baby book.

Out to lunch with Grandpa to celebrate his birthday. Sitting like a good girl in her seat while Grandpa Ralph & Mommy eat lunch.

Road Trip to Counsil Bluffs, IA

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

We drove to Council Bluffs this weekend to visit family. Maya did pretty well in the car for the 3 hour drive. She was definitely ready to get out of her car seat, which we did a few times along the way, but all in all, it wasn’t too bad. She slept a large part of the way home and only pooped through one outfit (and on mommy’s lap in the Jeep). But we don’t let little things like baby poops slow us down, we’re experienced travelers now & we know Maya likes to clear her system while on the road, so we come prepared.

Grandma Jacobsen got some quality Maya time in. She stayed with us at our hotel Saturday night as well.

We spend Saturday evening out at Aunt Barb’s house.

She was pretty tired from all the new faces and places, so she took a long nap with Mommy.

Here’s Daddy & Maya on Sunday morning in the hotel. They’re sitting at the desk checking their email, I’m sure Daddy has one setup for Maya already. If not, its only a matter of time. Once we all got ready we met the rest of the gang for some lunch. There was quite the turnout of people who wanted to meet Maya. It was a lot of fun, we were really glad we made the trip so Maya got to meet more of her extended family. The 3 hr. road trip was a success, so we’re going to be brave and try the 6 hr. road trip to Grandma’s for Easter. Wish us luck!

Happy Chick

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

After church today we took Maya in for her 1st Build-A-Bear experience. They are a client of daddy’s company so of course we had to support the cause. And its almost Easter so baby needed a new friend to share the holiday with. Here we are letting Maya pick out the chick or the bunny. She chose the chick, probably because of his bright color.

Then Momma had to give it a bath…

and fix his hair…

And baby girl got to meet her new friend.

By the end baby girl was tired from all the excitement & we headed out with the finished product.

Welcome home, Happy Chick!

Girls day out!

Here’s Maya lounging in her pj’s before our Friday afternoon play date.  We had a massage therapist come in to teach us new mom’s infant massage.  The babies cooperated remarkably well & we had a great time.

Nanny diaries

Friday, February 29th, 2008

We have been so blessed to find 2 amazing nannies for Miss Maya. Sara is a friend of my sister Brie’s and so she’s been around since Maya was just a few weeks old. She now watches her 1 afternoon a week because her schedule has gotten very busy since she’s at the end of nursing school. She’ll graduate in May, way to go Sara! Don’t forget the little people when you get your nursing gig!

Maya gets so excited when she see’s Sara. Even when its been over a week you can tell she knows exactly who Sara is when she walks in the room. Maya just lights up. She knows she’s going to get her undivided attention & be held as many snuggles as she wants.

And here’s Katie. She is wonderful & Maya is already starting to attach & this was just her 2nd week with us. Katie has had a couple classes with my mom, that’s how we met her. She’s starting nursing school in the Fall so hopefully we’ll have her around for awhile. Throughout the day, I can hear her playing with Maya & teaching her things. They read, & play on the activity mat, & look at pictures & rock. Do far things have been going wonderfully, she’s great to have around.

Lots of rocking.

Isn’t it a bit early to cultivate an addiction??

Here’s my sweet one looking all innocent.

And here she is, craning her neck to see the TV that’s above the fridge. I purposefully turn her so she’s not facing the TV. This girl has a problem! If there is a TV on in the house she can find it & it totally captivates her. She doesn’t just glance at it and then move on, no she stares at it until you turn her around or turn it off. This is going to be quite an issue when she starts crawling and I can’t keep her from watching. I think there will be a lot more music & book reading around here, but that actually sounds refreshing.

Just an ordinary Wednesday

Somebody is missing her Grandma J. Good thing we get to see her next weekend!

Practicing sitting up. Its not working so well thus far.

Last night Maya & I went to watch Kate’s program at school.  She was a little tomato, so cute.  We had a good time.

New toys AND guess who can roll over!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Here’s baby girl in her new jumper toy. She’s not quite big enough for it, her feet don’t touch the floor, but we thought we’d try it out anyway and she loved it!

And here she was just before the big event! She was playing on her activity mat and grabbing the toys & looking in the mirror when she decided to arch her back & roll on over! It was the first time she was able to make it all the way & get her arm out from under her all by herself. I was on the other side of her reading on the floor, she wasn’t reaching for anything or looking at me, she just decided she wanted to roll over! Very exciting…

Friends & Bath time

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Yesterday afternoon we went over to Liz’s house for a visit. Glorie is now 15 months old and was very sweet to Maya.

Saturday’s are for bath time! Who’s a healthy baby?!  It now takes 2 of us.  When she was smaller we bathed her in a little hammock that attached to her tub, but now we’ve got to help her sit up while we wash her down.  She’s starting to kick & really enjoys making a mess.  Won’t be too long before we can transition to the big girl tub!

Glad to be done.
