We went to the ISU vs MU football game in Ames, IA last night.  Uncle Lee & Kaitlin drove up there with us and we stayed over Friday night.  Dustin’s college buddies all came in town as well and we had a really nice time.  Grandma Jacobsen met up with us and watched Maya so we could go to the game.  It was FREEZING.  Did I mention how FROZEN I was?  Very good thing we didn’t try to take Maya.

Maya was a very good girl for Grandma, no tears or anything.

Here’s baby girl in her ISU cheerleading outfit from Aunt Niki.

Sometimes when we ask her to smile for a picture lately she opens her mouth real wide.  I’m not sure if she’s showing off those new molars (sp?) or if she thinks she’s smiling.

Mom & I went to a La Leche League conference last weekend in Hutchinson, KS.  Here’s a picture before the weekend festivities.

Maya & I hung out at Chris & Dawndy’s house on Thursday night.  We intended to take the girls to story time like we usually do, but ended up just letting the girls play.  Maya had so much fun sitting in this massage chair and reading books.

Here’s Lilli, Maya’s 2 yr. old friend.

Silly monkey.

Mama’s gotta work!

Dustin & Maya went with me Sunday to Omaha.  I had one visit in Omaha on Monday and another in Lincoln Monday afternoon.  We went to visit Aunt Barb on the way and had a really nice visit.  Maya was very happy to see everyone.  Here she is in a car seat turned around to the front for the first time.  She looks like such a big girl!  (She’s not though, she’s still a baby)  :o )

Aunt Barb had lots of beanies for her to play with.

Below is a shot of Maya’s 1st step!  She took one full step for the 1st time and it was fun that so many people were there to see it!  It seems that she’ll take off any day, but nothing more than 1 step quite yet.

Getting a hotel room with a loft sounded like a good idea, until I saw the stairs.

While I did my visit in Lincoln Dustin & Maya went to the mall.  I joined them after for lunch and then we got to ride on the carousel.

Halloween lady bug

Maya had fun playing with Uncle Corey during the afternoon on Halloween.

We went to a local nursing home to show off the babies in their costumes.  The group included Noelle & Eva, Tamara & Keira, Noelle’s friend Ashley and her daughter.  We had a lot of fun, the residents were so happy to see us. After that we had a little Halloween party at our house and had a good time.

Maya was a lady bug, Keira was a duck and Eva was a unicorn.  Liam below was an military guy. All they wanted to do was crawl up and down the stairs all night.

Maya’s cousin’s came by after all the Halloween festivities to hang out for a bit.  Griffin was an Indian and Kate was Dorthy from The Wizard of Oz.

Trip to Columbia

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

We went to Columbia, MO on Saturday to visit Uncle Lee & Auntie Kaitlin at MU.  We went to the MU vs Colorado game and watched Colorado get creamed.  Here are Kaitlin and Maya doing some tailgating before the big homecoming game.

All bundled up as the sun starts to set.

We headed back home on Sunday in time to make an appearance at the Wilshire Place Halloween party.   It was very windy and cold so we didn’t stay long.  Maya enjoyed looking at all the kids in their costumes and will have a good time on Friday I am sure.

Going down the slide at the play place.

She will not let go of those babies!  She gets so excited when she see’s them every day.  She likes to chew on their heads and carry at least one around with her a good portion of the day.

Maya’s 1 year stats

We took Maya to the doctor this morning for her 1 yr check up.  She didn’t get to sleep until about 3am last night so she was not too happy about being woken up at 8:30 to see the mean doctor!  She got 4 shots and was not very happy about them.  So far she’s doing just fine and hasn’t reacted to the shots.

Height:  30 1/2 inches (85%)

Weight:  23lbs 6 oz. (75%)

Head:  17 3/4 (45%)

Save me Mama!

Little Princess b-day party, round 2!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

We barely had enough cake for the Saturday party so we brought in reinforcements for Sunday to accompany monkey cake #2.

Auntie Kaitlin and Maya got some good bonding time in.  Uncle Lee spent all afternoon helping us get ready for the party and he was the grill master as well.

She’s getting the hang of this gift thing!

Maya loves her new brown baby from Lee & Kait.

In ducky pj’s before bed, taking the new trike from the Amberson’s for a joy ride.

We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend for our baby girl’s parties.  Everyone was so generous and helpful.  She got to spend a lot of time with her Grandma Jacobsen and her cousins and friends. She has so many new toys to keep her occupied, she just wakes up happy looking forward to rediscovering all the cool things people gave her for her birthday.  Thanks to everyone who showed up, helped out and spent time celebrating with us, we love and appreciate you all very much!

Mama’s little monkey turns 1!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

We had 2 parties for Maya this weekend.  On Saturday we invited her friends and a few neighbors.  On Sunday we had family and family friends over.

Maya wasn’t real sure what to think at first…

She quickly figured it out and demolished her little cake.  The sugar gave her such a shock she was up half the night!

Her cake was super cute and very yummy!

Maya and Sylvie love climbing the stairs together.

Monkey pj’s and a Curious George to end the day.

Maya is 1 year old!

We started out the birthday weekend on Friday night with the arrival of Grandma Jacobsen.  The Amberson’s (minus Aunt Niki who was out of town for work and greatly missed!), came over and we all had dinner.  Grandma let Maya open her gifts from her on Friday night.

She wasn’t sure what to think, but soon figured out there were lots of fun things to be discovered inside the pretty packaging.  The tiny baby dolls were her favorite, they’re the first things she looks for when she wakes up in the morning and gets ready to play.

Maya decided to crash a card game after opening her gifts.
