Daddy’s birthday!

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Dustin turned 32 today!  I made waffles, eggs & bacon, but was advised not to make the waffles again….I got a mix from Target for whole grain blueberry pancakes/waffles…I used our new waffle maker for the 1st time, & I guess I’m not very good at it yet…the waffle tasted like a blueberry muffin and was a little soggy…gracious as he is, d appreciated the effort anyway.  I made him a strawberry birthday cake, so hopefully that will make up for the breakfast glitch.  We’re too full after dinner to have any, so he’s going to take it to work tomorrow.

After breakfast he opened gifts with Maya’s help.

We put an offer in on a house today & Maya was very good while we were signing papers and meeting with our relater.  I put her on the floor on her blanket from Carol & next time I looked she had wrapped herself up in it…perhaps she was cold.

We spent the day working on the house and on the phone with banks getting our financing situated, & then Sara came over to watch Maya so Dustin & I could go out to dinner.  For some reason she doesn’t like being away from us in the evening, so that didn’t go over well.  When I got home she was sobbing, her little face all red & blotchy.   I can leave her during the day & she’s fine, but for some reason, come nighttime, its all about the mommy.

Happy Birthday to our favorite husband & daddy!!

Family time

Maya sure missed her Daddy while we were in Wichita.  He’s home for a long weekend and she’s happy to be getting extra time with him.

Here’s a shot before we went to church this morning.  Maya is wearing the dress Grandma Jacobsen got her for her half birthday.

Playing in her bed.  Unfortunately, that’s all that occurs in this crib.  She’s sitting up pretty well these days, but still prefers rolling around as her primary mode of transportation.

Wichita, again.

Last Wednesday through Friday Sara, Maya and I went to Wichita for work. Here are the girls playing before bed.

Sara keeps Maya entertained at the hotel while Mommy goes to work.

Who loves Sara? Maya does!

We stopped for some ice cream after a hard night of shopping. Maya was not happy that Sara wasn’t sharing.

Thank God the girl fell asleep! Her teeth were bothering her and she was fussing at the beginning of the trip on the way home, we thought we might be in for a painful ride home…but the Tylenol kicked in and baby girl was out the whole way home.

Here we are for Maya’s 6 month photo shoot.  Eventually we should be getting paid for this, but right now its the other way around.  haha.

Sweet pea

I had to get my picture taken with Maya in her mini skirt.  Today was the first and last day she’ll be wearing it I’m afraid.

Katie took Maya on a walk this afternoon.

Mother’s Day part 2

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Saturday we had dinner at my mom’s to celebrate Mother’s Day with her and RB.

Mom borrowed this jumper toy from a neighbor which was wonderful because we got to eat our entire meal in peace while Maya played.

Mother’s Day!

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Dustin took me to a bed & breakfast in Fort Scott, KS this weekend for my first Mother’s Day. We had a really good time. He had a couple other places he wanted to take us, but they were both 4 hr. drives and after the ride home from Wichita on Friday night (did I mention she screamed the last 30 minutes of the drive, we thought she was going to vomit it was that serious), Maya was not in any shape to be in the car for long on Saturday afternoon…so we decided to go to this b&b that was a little over and hour away.

Maya wanted to swing, but I didn’t feel real sure these old swings could hold my healthy girl.

M loved looking at the fish in the pond with daddy.

M sitting in her big girl high chair at the Mexican restaurant we went to on Saturday night.

Here are some shots of our room. The bed was big and comfy and the headboard was a tree. It was all very interesting. Especially this huge TV that was in the room. It just didn’t really fit in! Some b&b’s we’ve stayed at haven’t had any TVs at all, so this was a surprise.

Not much sleeping happened in this bed…little M woke up SEVERAL times (daddy might say she was up every hour)…she’s done wonderful in the hotel with me in Wichita the last couple times, but for some reason she wasn’t feeling like sleeping at the b&b…I think she is trying to get her top teeth or something, she just keeps waking up crying! over and over and over. Happy Mother’s Day, you will not have a day off for many, many years. (But that’s ok, its all worth it, just a reality, my reality that I wouldn’t change for anything!)….

M loved swinging on the porch swing.

Maya was very good during breakfast on Sunday morning. She sat in an old high chair they had and played with measuring spoons. She loved the sweet lady that ran the place, she has several of her own grandchildren that were running around.

We planned on staying in town Sunday afternoon, but there’s not much to do in Ft. Scott so we decided to head back to town and surprise Grandma Rosie with a visit and some flowers. M was happy to get to see her. Then mommy got a massage (yeah!) and picked up some BBQ and brought home for our dinner..M napped on daddy’s lap the rest of the evening while I cleaned the house (it was a pit from our travels) and watched some TV. All in all, a very nice mother’s day! Thank you Daddy and baby girl!

Wichita

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I had to go to Wichita again for another business trip. We were gone Wed-Fri last week. Sara came with us to help with Maya and we ended up having a really good time. Maya slept most of the way there and then we got checked into our hotel and then went out for dinner. She slept late both days and took good naps, I only had to come home once over lunch to nurse her since she’s doing so well with her baby food. The second night we found a really good restaurant and Maya sat in a high chair like a big girl and read her menu. Thank God for Sara, Maya was throwing everything on the floor and fussing when she got bored. Sara helped keep her entertained so we could make it through dinner w/o having to leave.

We took plenty of toys so the girls didn’t get bored hanging out in the hotel while I was at work. Here they are on M’s activity mat.

Hotel games….

Swinging

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Maya was getting fussy today waiting for Daddy to come home, so I took her out to the new swing Grandma Rosie bought for her.  Somebody changed her tune real quick…

Look at those teeth!

But I don’t wanna go to church!

Dustin & Maya went to church yesterday and left Mommy at home.

Hanging out with Mom while Daddy mowed the grass.

Weekend party

Monday, May 5th, 2008

We met up with some friends over at Lissa & Byron’s house this weekend.  Here is Dustin climbing up the jungle gym with Maya before they make their way down the slide.

Nic & Sylvie swinging with d & Maya.  The babies are checking each other out.

Somebody got cranky so we Bjorn’d her.  After a little walk around the neighborhood little miss was fast asleep.

We had an awesome bonfire in the Mitchell’s back yard.  Maya sat on my lap and just watched it for hours.  It was a great time.
